What an opening day of the league season, with temperatures reaching 23C the Hill were hot in more ways than one, with a full house of victories over Whitburn in NEPL and Stamfordham in the West Tyne.
The 1st XI looked in trouble defending 206 (helped by a magnificnt century from Kyle Coetzer) againt Whitburn with the opposition at 122-1, however the spin twins of Will Smith (4 for 21) and Max Williamson (2 for 39) removed the in form Lee Henderson and Jack Burnham. Callum Harding (3 for 34 on debut) grabbed the all important last wicket in the final over of the game for a memorable 37 run win.
The 2nd XI had a narrow 10 run win over Whitburn. William Archbold with 54 and Zain Ahmend with 38 the top scorers in a total of 224-9 dec. Joe Kilpatrick (4 for 34), Peter Jones (2 for 39) and Joe Anderson (2 for 27) then did the damage with the ball.
In a low scoring game at Stamfordham, the 3rd XI mustered 129 all out, and then skittled Stamfordham out for 118. Ross Marly (3 for 18), A Hazi (3 for 34) and Haroon Malik (2 for 25) the key wicket takers in an excellent win.
