Another century for Kyle in victory over Hetton but a mixed weekend of results

It was a mixed weekend of results, the 1st XI followed their huge 148 runs NEPL League victory over Hetton Lyons with a National Cup knockout at the hands of Chester le Street, the 2nd XI lost their 100% record away to Ashington, and the 3rd XI lost their West Tyne match at Haydon Bridge and their NEPL Sunday match at Newcastle.

 

Lets start with the good news, Kyle Coetzer scored his second century of the season with 124 against Hetton Lyons in a huge total of 318 for 7, James Schofield provided excellent support with 79, in an openign partnership of 188, and Angus Guy scored 46. Hetton were never up with the rate, losing wickets regularly as they stumbled to 170 all out,  Max Williamson with 5 for 42, and Callum Harding with 3 for 11 taking the majority of the wickets.

The 2nd XI suffered their first loss of the season at Ashington, winning the toss and batting first we posted a decent score of 200 for 9, Joe Anderson in the runs again with 62, William Archbold next best with 22 not out. In a tight finish Ashington got home with 3 wickets and 10 balls to spare, Will Archbold took an excelent 2 for 22 off his 10 overs, Tom Hastilow also took 2 wickets for 54 (off 10 overs) , Joe Torre, Joe Kilpatrick and Anthony Hunter taking 1 wicket each.

The West Tyne 3rd XI scorecard is not yet available, we will update this article with the scorecard once its available.

 

The NEPL 3rd XI also lost their unbeaten start to the season with defeat at Newcastle. Despite an unbeaten 74 not out from skipper Joe Fletcher, and 31 from opener Rohan Aatif, the Hill only posted 164 for 9 in their 40 overs. The total was reached easily by the hosts, who won with 7 wickets and 9 overs to spare. There was a wicket each for youngesters Abu Siddique and Safian Bhuiyan.
