The 1st and 2nd XI games against Whitburn fell foul of the heavy downpours on Saturday .
Amazingly whilst most of the North East were undercover the West Tyne League 3rd XI travelled to League leaders Stamfordham. After a rain delay the game got underway at 2.30 reduced to 30 overs although at 23 overs the umpires advised that it should be 21 overs bowled despite both sets of books showing 23 overs bowled.
After the 30ish overs were done we posted 151/7 with Rohaan top scoring with a fantastic 101 slightly overshadowed by the fact that we believed he was run out on 99 so not getting the ovation his innings deserved. Rash again in double figures with 19 and Matthew Lockey with 12.
In reply Stamfordham were 135/4 when rain set in for the day and called a halt to proceedings. There were wickets for the skipper, Matthew Lockey, Abu Siddique. The other wicket was a fantastic run out from Mohammed Khan on debut.
Shay Marley was singled out by one of the umpires as bowling a fantastic spell against some decent batters in the Stamfordham team. Well done Shay. Don’t think he did much on the Sunday by all accounts. Both teams received 11 points.

The NEPL Sunday 3rd team defeated champions Newcastle for the second time in 3 weeks at Jesmond with a gripping 2 run win.
Put into bat in damp conditions, we stuttered to a moderate but competitive score of 156. Safi Bhuiyan top scored with an unbeaten 38. At 65/0 our hosts were favourites before Safi took 3 quick wickets to turn the game in our favour, then Shay Marley, who has made a good impression in his first season at the Hill, took 5/32 including the wicket of home skipper Alastair Poll who fell to a great catch by Taylor Matthews. Needing 10 off the last over, Owen Blackburn held his nerve as we edged to a 2 run win. The 3s complete their season next Sunday at home to Gateshead Fell.
