Batting woes for the 1st XI however no such issues for Ben Mussett or Zain Ahmed

The second weekend of the season proved to be a big disappointment for the 1st XI. Saturday's league game saw the Hill bowl Eppleton out for what looked a getable 163. Opening bowlers Callum Harding and Luke Mussett each getting 4 for 37. Special mention for keeper Peter Halliday who took 8 catches. However after getting to 51 for 1, the wicket of Will Smith to a stunning catch proved to be the catalyst to a collapse to 122 all out. James Schofield was top scorer with 36. 1st XI NEPL Scoreacard

Unfortunately Sunday's National Knockout match v Chester le Street followed a similar pattern. Bowling first the Hill bowled out the visitors for 124, with Rory Hanley and Callum Harding getting 3 wickets each, however once again we collapsed from a sold start of 38 for 0, to a disastrous 68 all out.

The 2nd XI faired much better against Gateshead Fell at the Hill, Ben Mussett once again in the runs with 166 not out in a score of 227 for 6 declared, in reply Gateshead were skittled out for 60, with Peter Jones getting 4 for 7, Joe Kilpatrick 3 for 22 and Anthony Hunter 2 for 22. 2nd XI NEPL Scorecard

The 3rd XI game at Riding Mill against Humshaugh was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain,

The 3rd XI won their opening NEPL game of the season at Gateshead Fell. Restricting the opposition to 162 for 6 with some tight bowling from Andy Jewitt 2 for 17 and Jeff Mason 2 for 22, the Hill then knocked off the score with 5 overs to spare, due in the main to an excellent 73no from Zain Ahmed. 3rd XI NEPL Scorecard
