It's been a while, but by popular demand the Benwell Hill Fantasy Cricket competition is back for 2019. Just pick your best eleven Hill players from the list provided, and how they perform each week between 1st June and the end of the season, could earn you upto £100 in Hill bar credit. Entry is free, full list of rules and the players list are below or can be downloaded here.
All entries must be in by 2pm on Saturday 8th June, competition starts on 1st June, get your team in before 2pm on Saturday 1st June to earn BONUS points.
Summary: Pick a team of 11 Benwell Hill players from the list provided, you get awarded points based on how those players perform (runs, wickets, catches and stumpings) in weekend league fixtures (NEPL 1,2,3 and West Tyne) from 1st June to the end of the season. The entry with the most points at the end of the league season will be the winner.
Competition Start and Deadline: The Fantasy Cricket competition will commence on the weekend of 1st/2nd June, however teams can be entered any time up to 2pm on Saturday 8th June. Teams entered before the start of games on Saturday 1st June will be awarded 150 BONUS points.

Cost: Free, entry is open to players and family, ex players, members and friends of Benwell Hill.
Prizes: £100 of Benwell Hill credit is up for grabs. £50 for winner, £30 for second, £20 for third. This can be used behind the bar.
Competition Rules:
1. Pick a team of 11 Hill players from the 3 categories provided. You must select 11 different players from the 3 categories. From the Batting category (pick 5 players), Bowling (pick 5 players) and Wicket Keeper (pick 1 player). Note – some players are categorised as all rounders (either bat/bowl or bat/wk) so will appear in more than 1 list. You cannot pick them twice!
2. Each player is given a rating, the total rating of your team must be no more than 125 points. Note - Teams that are submitted that add upto more than 125 points will be automatically given the lowest score from each weekend, until they are amended, only 1 player can be changed if you submit an incorrect team.
3. Players earn points based on their individual performance; points are awarded as follows:
- TURNING UP – 10 points awarded for playing
- BATTING – 1 point for every run scored
- BATTING – 10 BONUS points for a 50
- BATTING – 25 BONUS points for a 100
- BATTING – 50 BONUS points for a 150
- BATTING – MINUS 10 points for a duck
- BOWLING – 12 points for each wicket taken
- BOWLING – 10 BONUS points for 4 wickets
- BOWLING – 25 BONUS points for 7 wickets or more
- BOWLING – 50 BONUS points for a hat trick
- FIELDING/WK – 10 points for a catch
- FIELDING/WK – 10 BONUS points for 3 catches
- FIELDING/WK – 25 BONUS points for 5 catches or more
- WICKET KEEPING – 15 points for a stumping
- WICKET KEEPING – 25 BONUS points for 3 stumpings
4. Players are awarded points based on their performance for ONE league game over a weekend. Where players play 2 games the following rules apply:
- SENIOR players – only the Saturday fixture (either NEPL 1,2 or West Tyne league games) will count towards the Fantasy game for senior players, irrespective of how they perform in NEPL3 on a Sunday
- JUNIOR players – the BEST performance of a junior player - they are marked with (j) on the players list, over their 2 games on the same weekend, will count towards their Fantasy score.
5. Once your team is entered it cannot be changed (unless its invalid – see Note on rule 2), so if you pick someone who is injured or throws their toys out and stops playing, its tough, think before you pick!!
