The NEPL Annual Dinner held on November 28th brought the curtain down on local cricket for 2025. Max Williamson collected the First Division Championship Trophy on behalf of the Club (see photos below) and he was unfortunate to be pipped to the Player of the Year Award by former Hill player Mohsin Mukhtar. A total of four trophies were secured in all by our various teams which represents a successful season.

Plans are well advanced for the 2026 season when a number of new players will bolster the overall playing strength of the Club. The Premier Division will be a tough school especially as the ground is prepared for re-organisation in 2027 when there will be three Leagues of 10 teams. To compete at all levels we will need more Senior players –nationally all Clubs are in the business of attracting players - so if you know of anybody who might be interested in joining us – male or female – please point them in our direction.
On and off the field the Club continues to invest in our facilities and to work to maintain the high standards we currently enjoy. The clear strategic goal is to maintain our status as one of the leading Cricket, Squash and Social Clubs in the North East. This is no easy task and it will always be a case of all hands to the pump – as above, if you can help in any way please do not hesitate to get in touch.
BHCC remain a true collective – an organisation led by committed volunteers but supported by a number of wonderful professionals. My thanks to all concerned for a memorable 2025 and I hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
To find out ‘what’s on ‘over the Festive Period and beyond, as in all Hill Matters, please consult the website or our social media sites (Facebook or Instagram), or ask Phil Haves or Geoff Chambers, or alternatively Pat or Margaret from behind the bar, I look forward to seeing you all soon.
