It wasn't a great weekend for many reasons. Friday evening's much anticipated NEPL T20 Quarter final got cancelled on Thursday due to a Covid outbreak in the Shotley Bridge camp, however as it happened the rain would of almost certainly led to the cancellation of the game anyway, we try again this coming Friday, with a 6pm start at the Hill.
Friday's rain continued into Saturday and unfrotunately led to the cancellation of all 3 senior games. The 1st XI did get started for 5 overs, with the hosts Whitburn at 20 for 1.
The rain eventually stopped by Sunday afternoon, which meant the NEPL Salver match at Jesmond went ahead as scheduled. A much weakend team compared to Saturday's line up, lost narrowly by 2 wickets. The Hill scoring 218 for 8 in their alloted 40 overs, largely down to an excellent 91 from Luke Doneathy, Phil Nicholson next best with 35. The hosts chased down the Hill score with 2 balls to spare with Luke Mussett hitting the winning runs. Luke Doneathy the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 28.
