Covid Cup Summary : Take a bow Pete Jones

As we edge closer to the start of the 2020 cricket season, it's a perfect time to reflect back on Peter Jones brainchild the virtual cricket Covid Cup.

 

Those first 10 Saturday afternoon's of what should of been the start of the 2020 cricket season, were certainly lit up on @Hillcricket Twitter with Covid Cup virtual action. Superb commentary from Andy Dawson and Peter Jones ensured we got fun packed updates on the virtual action as it happened.

 

In total there were 10 games, with all team's from 1st's to 3rd's, Ladies and Junior and even a Social XI getting a virtual run out. Over £950 was raised for the club with £300 being paid out in winnings to the person guessing the correct number of total runs in the 10 over per side games.

 

A full summary of the results and winners is provided below :

 

18th April : Hill 1st XI v Felling, Hill 1st XI lost by 6 wickets. 113 runs scored. No winner

 

25th April : Hill 2nd XI v Whitburn, Hill 2nd XI won by 41 runs. 217 runs scored. No winner

 

2nd May : Hill 3rd XI v Matfen, Hill 3rd XI won by 3 runs. 183 runs scored. Phil Nicholson guessed the correct total runs scored

 

09th May : Hill Ladies v Tynedale, Tynedale won by 9 wickets. 108 runs scored. No winner

 

16th May : Baz's Bairns v Lunny's Lads, Baz's Bairns won by 15 runs. 159 runs scored. No winner

 

23rd May : Hill Former Players v Hill Social XI, Former players won by 28 runs. 221 runs scored. Luke Hughes guessed the correct total runs scored

 

30th May : Hill 1st XI v NEPL/DCCC/England XI, Hill 1st XI won by 1 run, 153 runs scored. No winner

 

6th June : Current Hill 2nd's v Former Hill 2nd's, Current 2s won by 23 runs. 154 runs scored. Winny and Coolio guessed the correct total runs scored.

 

13th June : Hill 3rd XI v Hill Ladies, 3rd XI won by 8 wickets. 146 runs scored. No winner

 

20th June : Hill Clash of Clans (Experience v Youth), Experience won by 33 runs. 159 runs scored. Andy Dawson guessed the correct total runs scored
