Covid Cup : Week 7 - 1st XI v Durham All Stars

29 May 2020

WIth no sight of real cricket starting anytime soon, we once again turn to the Covid Cup for some Saturday afternoon fun, and week 7 looks a cracker between a Benwell Hill 1st XI and a Durham County All Star XI.

The visitors include current England stars Ben Stokes, Mark Wood, Keaton Jennings and Mark Stoneman, as well ex England stars Phil 'Colonel' Mustard, Paul Collingwood, Scott Borthwick, Liam Plunkett and Graham Onions.

Durham XI in full is : M Stoneman, K Jennings, G Cook, B Stokes, P Collingwood (c), P Mustard (wk), S Borthwick, L Plunkett, M Wood, G Onions, S Brown, 12th Man J Windows.

The Hill XI is still to be confirmed, with most of the Hill batsman running scared of facing that 5 pronged 90+ mph pace attack.

A reminder of how this works for those new to the game. Covid Cup is a simulation of a real cricket game between the two sides with real players (as above), the game is 10 overs per side. You can take part by trying to successfully guess the TOTAL runs scored in the game, and help raise funds for the Hill, with over £675 raised to date.

To play, you need to go to the club’s Fundly at https://fundly.com/the-covid-cup# and donate, or click on the button below.

You need to leave a comment giving your guess as to how many runs will be scored in this week’s game. You are allowed one guess per pound you donate. Donations and guesses must be made before the advertised start time of the match. You can follow the progress of the game on Twitter from 3pm.

Finally congratulations to last weekend's winner Luke Hughes, who walked away with £127, after successfully guessing 159 runs in the game where Baz Bairn's won the spoils against Lunny's Lads by 15 runs.
