Junior Results Round-up

21 May 2019

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the Benwell Hill junior section, with Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 fixtures now in full swing.

Sunday 12th May

After a heavy defeat at South North the Under 13s got back to winning ways with an excellent victory ovedr Newcastle. Some tight opening bowling from Owen Blackburn and Fardin Bhuyian restricted Newcastle to only 9 runs off the first 6 overs, it then proved to be a real struggle for Newcastle as wickets fell regularly, Sam Rowe 4 for 12, and Jayam Patel 3 for 10 doing the damage in the middle of the innings, as the visitors were 62 all out. We chased down the total in the 8th over, with Ella Lillico 32 (retired out) and Haydon Mustard 18 top scorers.

The Under 11 team had a comfortable victory against Wylam by 44 runs, taking 9 Wylam wickets.

Monday 13th May

Newcastle got their revenge over the Hill at Under 15 level. Batting first the Under 15 were 90 all out, with Under 13 players Fardin Bhuyian (35) and Haydon Mustard (15) were top scoreres in a dsiappointing total. 12 year old spinner Maisie Sinclair returning amazing figures of 7 for 13 off 3.4 overs. The total was easily chased down in the 11th over for the loss of only 1 wicket.

Sunday 19th May

The Under 13s put in another excellent performance this time at Morpeth. Batting first we scored 122 for 4, with Haydon Mustard and Freddie McGregor both retiring on 30, they were ably supported by Kemitha Mudalige (21) and Jayam Patel (20no). Morpeth were then bowled out for 39, the left arm pace of Owen Blackburn causing the early damage with 3 wickets for 1 run off his 3 overs, the spin of Sam Rowe once again caused the middle order damage with 3 wickets for 9 runs, and Dylan Newton mopping up the tail with 2 for 1 off his only over,

The Under 11s continued winning ways at the expense of Corbridge, with a 45 run victory, good bowling once again the key with Corbridge losing 10 wickets.

Monday 20th May

Despite a narrow loss for the Under 15s, this time at South North, there was a lot to like from the Hill lads in a much improved performance. South North batted first, posting 128 for 7 from their 20 overs, Daniel Ramsey the pick of  our bowlers with 3 for 21 off 4 overs. In reply we finished 11 runs short, scoring 118 for 7, Haydon Mustard the undoubted star with an excellent half century, he was ably assisted by Freddie McGregor (17) and Joe Simmons (15).
