It was another good week for the Hill junior sides with wins for the Under 15s over Newcastle in the NEPL 40 over knockout competition, and Sunday morning wins for the Under 13s and Under 11s v Ponteland and Stocksfield resepectively.
Under 15s (report by Rory Hanley) - we began our campaign in the NEPL 40 over knockout tournament with an excellent win over Newcastle in the round of 16. Newcastle won the toss and chose to bat and thanks to some brutal hitting from the opening pair they brought up 100 in the 12th over. However, with some tight bowling from Warren, Ibrahim, Luke and Fardin we were able to restrict them to 239 with a much improved second 20 overs with the ball and in the field.
The chase got off to a shaky start with Dylan caught behind early but some good hitting from Fardin and Freddie got us back on track. The wicket of Fardin brought Haydon to the crease with work to do, but his excellent 100 took us home with 10 overs to spare to round up a great team performance and win. We play at Tynemouth Friday 21st August in the quarter final.
Unfortunately Monday's Under 15 fixture against Morpeth was lost to the wet weather.
Under 13s (report by Max Williamson) - we continued our unbeaten start to the season with another convincing win. We batted first against Ponteland scoring 131 for 4. Top scorere were Isaac McIntosh (30 retired) and Aaron Armstrong (25 retired), with other useful scores from Subhan Shahzad (21) and Freddie McGregor (19). Ponteland scored 87 in reply with Jayam Patel taking 3 wickets in his 4 overs.
Under 11s (report by James Walder) - we came out on top in a close game against Stocksfield. Batting first we scored 256 for 7 with Fergus Wallace top scoring and all pairs scoring some runs. The game went to the last over but Stocksfield ended up on 253 for 8. Seb Fletcher-Woods will be on a hat trick in the next game and having done some catching at training it was great that we caught three from three including a great catch from Ellie Fallon.
