Ladies Review : 3 out of 3 as Hill ladies go top of the league

2 Jul 2019

Not to be outdone by the men and junior teams recent good form, the Hill ladies have returned with 3 great away wins at Gatehard Fell, Newcastle and Stocksfield over the last 7 days. Tuesday's victory at Stocksfield undoubtedly the pick of the performances, a victory that saw us go top of the league for the first time this season.

The run started at Gatehead Fell on Wednesday 26th June with a 74 run victory. Batting first we posted 180 for 2 in 20 overs, Annie Anderson (60) and Emily Withing (65), scoring the bulk of the runs before retiring, we then restricted the Fell to 106 for 4, with a wicket piece for Ellie Taylor, Niamh Brennan and Annie Anderson, and an excellent run out by Katie Whiting.

Next up was Newcastle at Medicals on Friday 28th June, once again we batted first and scored heavily, posting 156 for 3 in 20 overs, Annie Anderson with 70no and Ella Lillico with 60 the top scorers. Newcastle were 74 all out in reply, Ellen Williamson with 3 wickets, Molly Brayson, Ellie Taylor, Holly Newsome all taking 1 wicket each.

Tuesday's (2nd July) victory at Stocksfield, was the most impressive, against a team we have struggled to beat in recent seasons. Good tight and disciplined bowling from all 5 bowlers used (Ellie Taylor, Miam Brennan, Emily Whiting, Molly Brayson and Holly Jordan) restricted the hosts to just 78 for 3 off their 20 overs. In reply we lost two quick wickets but when in form Annie Anderson joined the ever impressive Ella Lillico at the crease, the victory was never in doubt, Annie scoring 35no and Ella 29no.

The next game is on Friday 5th July at home to Gateshead Fell.
