We are deeply saddened to share the passing of former Hill player Phil Dunsford who died suddenly at home on Saturay evening. Always a big character in his playing days, Phil came through the junior ranks representing the Hill at all senior levels. He was also one of the few players who was a member of the the "10fer" club, when he achieved the magical feat of taking 10 wickets in the same match against Alnwick in 1987. He had a few famous victims in his career, and was always keen to remind anyone who would listen about how he got West Indian legend Richie Richardson out at Gateshead Fell. In total he took 106 first team wickets including 5 wickets on 5 separate occassions. He also took over 300 wickets for the 2nd XI and scored over 2000 runs.
Our condolences to his wife Terry, children Daniel, Jennifer and Nicola, brothers Chris and Steve, sisters Janet and Pat, and to all the Dunsford family.
The funeral will take place at at the West Road Crematorium on Thursday 31st March at 2:15pm and then onto the Hill at the end of service.
