No sooner has the 2024 season cricket season finished, we are already making plans for the 2025 season and hopefully a big push for a return to the upper echelons of the North East Premier League, and we are delighted to announce the return of...
old boys Phil Nicholson and Lee Crozier. We are also delighted to annouce that opening bowler Callum Harding will stay at the Hill for a further season in 2025. These signings are hopefully just the start, in what already appears to be a very competitive market, with several local players changing clubs for the season ahead. They will also help offset the loss of the pro Yash who will not be returning in 2025, Haydon who will stay in the NEPL top division to play for Shotley Bridge, Dan Gardiner and Rory Hanley who is leaving the area to take a new job.
However back to the good news the return of Phil and Lee has certainly caught the attention on Social Media (check out the reaction on the Benwell Hill Facebook page). Phil is returning with immediate effect as Head of Senior Cricket overseeing cricket operations within the club. Lee will be joining the 1st XI playing squad for the 2025 season, bringing his wealth of experience to the team, as well as offering guidance to the batch of fine young spinners at the club such as Max, Will, Saffi, Aaron, Fergus et al.
