The curse of the weekend rain has hit us early in the 2021 season, with the entire league programme falling foul of the weather on Saturday (8th May), there was however better news on the Sunday with both 3rd XI teams getting their games played in the West Tyne and NEPL Sunday North Division A.
The NEPL Sunday fixture was a local derby away to Blaydon. The Hill won the toss and elected to field, restricting Blaydon to 173 all out in 39.2 overs. Wickets were shared with skipper Joe Fletcher taking 3 for 20, Will Archbold 3 for 19, there were 2 wickets apiece for Haroon Malik and Andy Jewitt. We knocked off the Blaydon score for loss of 4 wickets with Will Archbold top scoring with 52, there was an impressive 39 not out from Matthew Lockey and 29 for Joe Fletcher, Rohan Aatif also scored a valuable 25.

In the West Tyne fixture at the Hill, the Hill failed to chase down Humshaugh's score of 157 for 8, eventually finishing 26 runs short. There was an impressive 3 for 22 from Safiun Bhuiyan and 2 for 27 for Zain Ullah. Runs were hard to come by, Zain Ahmed top scoring with 31.John Chamber sscoring 30 and Dave Ladd 27 not out.
