Three wins out of three, a hat trick and a hundred, it was a canny start to the month of August, with all 3 senior teams prevailing in tight games, the 1st's winning by 3 runs, the 2nd's winning by 10 runs and the 3rd's by 9 runs.
We have to start the round up with the 2nd XI win over Newcastle at Denton Bank. Joe Anderson was the star with the bat, scoring the first century of the season (102) as the Hill scored 235 all out in their 40 overs, Joe Moore (53) and Dave Haxon (32) the other top scorer's. Newcastle also had their own centurion, Steven Allen (106), and ex Hill man James Carr also scored a half century, however it was off spinner Joe Torre, who stole the late headlines, as he claimed the last 4 wickets in 4 balls (including a hat trick of course) as we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, the visitors eventually finishing 10 runs short of their target.

It was a similar tight game at Jesmond as the 1st's claimed a narrow 3 run victory. The Hill batted first, scoring 226 runs, with useful contributions from a number of the upper order, Kyle Coetzer (53), Captain Pete Halliday (42), Luke Doneathy (32), Finn McGreath (26) the top scorer's.
Newcastle bolstered by a couple of Durham recruits (Liam Trevaskis, Chris McBride) were always in the game despite losing regular wickets. The outcome was still uncertain until the last ball of the game, as a spirted innings from youngster Joe Boaden almost got his Jesmond side over the line, however Kyle kept his nerve to take the final wicket (in a 3 wicket haul) to claim a 3 run win.

Hexham Leazes were always in the game, but key wickets from youngsters Harry Reeves (3 for 32) and Ismael Ahmed (3 for 39), eventually saw the hosts all out for 162.
