Third league century of the season for Kyle sets up huge win over Felling

It was another great weekend for the 1st XI who followed their third successive win in the NEPL T20 competition over Boldon on Friday night, with a huge 140 run over Felling in the NEPL Premier Division on Saturday.

 

1st XI - A third league century of the season for Kyle Coetzer, scoring 132 (15 x 4s and 6 x 6s), helped setup a huge total of 263 for 8 in 54 overs against Felling. Kyle and opener James Schofield (who continued his fine start to the season with 87) put on a 163 run 3rd wicket partnership. Felling fell to 11 for 3, 45 for 5 and 66 for 6 eventually being dismissed for 123 within 35 overs, wickets were shared with 3 each for Kyle and Max, and 2 each for Callum and Luke. The team currently sit 4th in the league, 17 points behind Chester le Street, 4 points behind South North and 2 points behind Burnmoor.

The 2nd XI had a rare off day on Saturday, as they went down to a 6 wicket defeat against Newcastle. The Hill won the toss and batted first, but struggled to 129 all out in 42 overs, Joe Fletcher top scoring with 37, Haydon Mustard with 27 and Pete Jones with 25 not out also with useful contributions. The hosts made shortshrift of the Hill total, knocking it off for the loss only 4 wickets in 34 overs, 2 wickets each for spin twins Pete Jones and Will Archbold. The team currently sit second in the league behind Gateshead Fell.

The West Tyne 3rd XI fell to their 2nd league defeat in a row, this time away to Haltwhistle. The Hill were inserted by the hosts and struggled to 121 all out in 35 overs, skipper Davey Ladd top scoring with 38 and Rohan Aatif scoring 26. Haltwhistle chasing the total for loss of 5 wickets, 2 wickets for Chris Pounder, and 1 each for Matthew Lockey, Davey Ladd and debutant Harry Bowers.

The NEPL 3rd XI continued their great run with a win against Tynemouth on Sunday. We batted first scoring 213 for 9 in 40 overs, Fardin Bhuiyan was top scorer, with 59 (his first senior half century), Andy Dawson with 46, Joe Fletcher with 39 and Rohan Aatif with 37 also adding useful runs. Tynemouth finished 34 runs short, scoring 178 all out, wickets were shared with 3 for Abu Siddique, 2 each for Ben Moody, Andy Jewitt, and 13 year old Jayem Patel (his first senior wickets). The team currently sit second in the league behind Newcastle CC.
