Under 15s secure first silverware of 2025 season

1 Sep 2025

Huge congratulations to the Under 15 team who defeated South North by 4 wickets in the final of the NEPL Shield on Thursday 28th August.

Hill skipper Gabriel Mellot won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first, and it looked a great deciison as South North slipped to 4 for 2, then 43 for 5 and 66-6 , however the tail wagged slightly and they posted 109 all out off 34.2 overs. Skipper Gabriel and Seb Fletcher-Woods were the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets each, Oliver Smalley the other wicket taker, an early crucial run out of opener Olly Alexander accouting for the other wicket.

In reply, batitng continued to prove difficult as we lost both openers quickly and slipped to 20 for 3, then 24 for 4, however an excellent 5th wicket partnership between Ramin Aatif (28) and Tom Hewison (21) took us to 79, despite one more scare we got over the line in the 28th over, thanks to the not out batsman  Freddie Mextor (8) and James Roe. An excellent team effort and our first success in the competition. Well done to the team and Barry Pearson  team coach.
