After their Vitality Cup final loss last month the Under 15s deservedly got their hands on some silverware with a terrific win in a pulsating NEPL Shield final against Lanchester.

The team had an impressive run to the final beating Tynemouth by 7 wickets, Gateshead Fell by 169 runs, South North by 9 wickets and South Shields by 8 wickets in the semi final. The final itself was a much closer affair, the Hill won the toss and decided to field, Lanchester scoring 174 all out in 39.1 overs, Jayem Patel the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 18, Muhammad Khan with 2 for 19 and Owen Blackburn 2 for 22  also impressing, there was also a wicket each for Abu Siddique, Luke Nellis and Rory Mustard. The Hill's top order got us to off a great start at 62 for 2, Fardin Bhuyian with 19, Freddie McGregor 15, however the 3rd wicket stand between Owen Blackburn (42) and Haydon Mustard (70 not out) was  key as the Hill chased down the total for 5 wickets with 10 overs to spare.

As mentioned it was a terrfic run throughout the competition. some of the highlights include 100 not out for Fardin Bhuyian against Gateshead Fell, scores of 64 and 62 for Owen Blackburn and Haydon Mustard respectively in the same game where we scored 314 in 40 overs. 102 for Haydon Mustard against Tynemouth. 50 not out for Fardian Bhuiyan against South Shields. 44 for Fardin Bhuiyan, 38 for Jayem Patel and 36 for Freddie McGregor in a  tough Quarter final game against South North. A great team performance throughout the competition, well played all.
