Under 19s lose Northumberland T20 final against Alnmouth

7 Sep 2021

The excellent run of the under 19s came to a disappointing end on Friday night when they lost the Northumberland County Final up at Alnmouth by 23 runs.

Our hosts batted first on a gloomy night, and despite losing a couple of early wickets, posted a very respectable 128 after 20 overs. We were below our best in the field with a couple of crucial catches going down, Safi Bhuiyan was the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets.

In reply, we never really got going, and despite 24 from skipper Rohan Aatif and 37 from Matthew Lockey, we lost wickets at regular intervals so we were always behind the clock and finished on 105 for 8 at the end of 20 overs.

So while we weren't at our best in the Final, the lads should be proud of their efforts to get to this far, congratulations to Alnmouth who were deserved winners as they were the better team on the day, and as ever were excellent hosts.
