The rain saved the 1s from inevitable defeat against Felling, however the 2s beat the rain against the same opposition and recorded an excellent 7 wicket win, meanwhile the West Tyne 3s recorded full points as Humshuagh suprisingly conceded the game.

NEPL Premier League - 1st XI v Felling (a) - match abandonded - Match Report from Phil Haves

A trip to Felling was the latest obstacle to the First team to overcome in an effort to stop the rot on a day when the weather forecast was unsettled to say the least. The home side won the toss & elected to bat. The early stages of the innings suggested batting would be difficult as Callum found good seam movement beating the bat without much luck however that was as good as it got as he pulled up injured after 3 overs. The other bowlers then toiled away without much luck, a short leg side boundary to one side & a quick outfield as the hosts piled on the runs & reached 145 before we got our first breakthrough. Runs continued to flow at a decent rate allowing Felling to reach 273 before declaring in the 51st over however we did manage to take 9 wickets gaining maximum bowling points. Dan bowled a confidence boosting spell picking up 4 wickets as did Yash likewise with Max picking up the other wicket.

We needed a solid start in reply against one of the better opening attacks in the League if we were to chase down the formidable target however it was not to be as 3 wickets for Allison & 2 for Leonard reduced us to 36/5. Belly & Will then got us to 56 without further loss when the predicted rain arrived.

The captains eventually shook hands without any further play being possible & we escaped what looked like a heavy defeat with 9 points from an abandoned game.
