Saturday 1st July turned into a disastrous day for the 1st and 2nd's as both fell to defeat against South North.
At Gosforth, the 1st's were inserted into bat, in what became a rain affected match, which was reduced to a 47/42 over split. The rain interuption did not help at all, as a steady start to our innings was undone by the reduction in overs, we eventually posted 142 for 8 in 47 overs, Luke Doneathy scoring his first half century for the Hill with an excellent knock of 50 from 61 balls.
South North lost wickets regularly in reply but eventuality got over the line 6 wickets down in the 35th over. Luke's (Mussett and Doneathy) sharing 2 wickets each, and Kyle and Rory picking up 1 each.
The 2nd's unbeaten run came to a crashing halt at home to South North as we were skittled out for only 61 runs. Fenwick Friskin (20) and the experienced Joe Moore (16) the only men to get double figures. South North lost 4 wickets in chasing down the total, Joe Kilpatrick taking all the wickets.
The West Tyne 3rd's had a great victory over Matfen. Batting first we posted 181 for 7 in 40 overs, runs were shared around with Rashid Shad top scoring with 49. We then bowled out Matfen for 76, with Joe Barnes taking 3 for 23, Sam Stillwell 2 for 15 and Chris Pounder 2 for 9.
The Sunday NEPL 3rd team had a great victory over South North. We batted first scoring 228 for 7 from 40runs overs, again runs were shared about, Ben Hynes (41), run machine Fenwick Friskin (38), Jeff Mason (33), Zain Ahmed (28) and Andy Dawson (22) the main contributors. South North were 97 all aout with Jeff Mason (a fantasy snip at 10 points) taking 4 wickets, in a fine all round performance, Joe Barnes and Andrew Jewitt getting 2 each.
