Double Mustard helps Hill to Tyneside Charity Bowl final

21 Jul 2021

In what must be a first for the Hill, father Phil Mustard (playing his first game for the Hill since 2004) and son Haydon, opened the batting together for the 1st XI tonight in the Tyneside Charity Bowl semi final. Phil scored an excellent 60 and Haydon 30 as the Hill set Newcastle City 140 to win.

In a tight finish in front of a good midweek crowd, the Hill secured a last over victory thanks to 3 wickets from Kyle, and some good death bowling by Pete Jones and Phil Bell. The win sets up a final against Morpeth (who defeated Tynemouth in the other semi), which will be held at the Hill on Sunday 1st August.
