Many congratulations to our Under 9 who had a 100% record (3 wins out of 3) in their first tournament of 2021 at Stocksfield CC on Sunday. The games were against Tynedale, Benwell and Wylam. It was the first time most of the players had represented the club and there were a few nerves before the first game.
Our first match was against Tynedale and Oliver and Rahim got us off to a great start scoring 21 runs in the first 2 overs. Further boundaries came from Thomas W and Thomas F in a net total of 255. In reply Tynedale never got going and Amelia picked up a wicket with her first ball. Our next game was against Benwell who kept us to a net score of 227. Defending a small total, Oliver picked up three wickets in the first over and Idris also got his first wicket of the day and Benwell ended up on a net score of 208. Our final game was against Wylam and we batted well to reach a net score of 255 with Sukhveer and Matthew scoring 12 runs in the final pair. Another strong bowling performance limited Wylam to a net score of 222 and a third win in the day.
